Books: The Florida Gardening Series
|
The first two volumes are the result of author Pamela Crawford’s extensive, 15 year plant trials. The goal of the trials is to find plants and garden accessories that are very well suited to the Florida environment, and to learn how to care for them as easily and naturally as possible. To date, more than 2600 plants have been tested, with only 220 survivors. These books give extensive, easy-to-understand information about how to grow and design with the survivors, as well as which plants to avoid! Each recommended plant is covered in a double-page spread with up to 9 excellent photos of the plants as well as some suggested companions. In addition to detailed plant information, the books include convenient photo charts that organize the plants by size and environment tolerances, like sun or shade. These charts allow you to look at all the plants that work in a particular environment at one time, making planning a garden an much easier task. And each book is filled with examples of beautiful gardens created with these wonderful plants. The third volume, “Stormscaping” was inspired by Ms. Crawford’s experiences in the 2004 hurricane season. She learned valuable techniques which can save your garden, your home, and maybe your sanity when the next big one hits!
The fourth volume of the series is “Container Gardens for Florida”, which includes a book and a companion DVD/movie (sold separately). This spectacular book is Pamela's largest and includes a simple design and planting system that you can learn in just an hour! Watch the 30 minute DVD/movie and skim chapters 1,2, and 15 for another 30 minutes and you will be ready to plant containers like the pros! This book is also a major reference book.
